Today I am sharing a DIY Tutorial for an Easter Bunny Peeps cake! This cake is so easy and fun and sure to be the star of your Easter party!

So, let’s hop to it shall we? You can use any cake mix or homemade cake recipe. I chose to keep it simple and use a store bought cake mix.

  1. Buy and gather your supplies:
  • Cake Mix or ingredients for your cake
  • Shredded Coconut
  • Green Food Coloring
  • Easter M&M’s
  • Frosting ingredients
  • Peeps in bright Easter colors

2. Make and bake your cake according to directions.

IMG_5176

*I grease my pans using real butter and flour and the cake always comes out of the pan so easily.

IMG_5179

3. Place shredded coconut in a bowl and add several drops of green food coloring to create the “grass” for the cake.

IMG_5153

4. Make frosting – I use my tried and true buttercream frosting recipe from my mom!

Homemade buttercream frosting recipe:

16 ounces of Powdered Sugar

1/2 cup of softened butter

1 tsp of vanilla

A couple of tablespoons of milk

Directions:

*In a medium bowl, beat butter and vanilla on medium speed with an electric mixer until smooth

*Add in powdered sugar and continue to mix

*Add in a tablespoon of milk at a time; you may need to add more milk to get to your desired consistency

5. Frost cake.

IMG_5185

IMG_5190

6. Sprinkle green shredded coconut onto cake.

IMG_5192

7. Add your peeps in alternating colors around the cake-they just stick right to the cake with the frosting-so easy!

IMG_5194

8. Sprinkle on Easter colored M&M’s and you are done! How cute is this cake?!
IMG_5206

This cake will sure to be a hit with your family and friends at your Easter party or brunch, especially with the kiddos! I added some funny bunny toppers simply by attaching bunny stickers from the Target dollar spot onto cute paper straws!

IMG_5219

I displayed this cute cake on my vintage cart that I decorate for the holidays. Perfect spot for it!

Thanks for joining the Spring into Easter Blog Hop! We are excited to share all of our Spring and Easter inspiration with you! Welcome from all of the hosts!

Spring_into_Easter_Blog_Hop

Today I am sharing a fun, “You are Somebunny Special” Easter Egg Hunt party. Is there anything more fun on Easter than an Easter Egg hunt? The kids love it so much! I remember as a child getting so excited to find the eggs. I couldn’t fill my basket up fast enough! For this egg hunt, I set up a little party area outside in our backyard.

somebunny28

The theme I chose for the egg hunt is “You are Somebunny Special.”  I found these adorable plush bunnies with glasses on Oriental Trading – they became my inspiration for the theme/decor for the party. I reached out to the creative Meghan from Elva M. Design to create custom printables for the party. I just love how they turned out-the bunnies with the glasses! So adorable!

somebunny8

These bunnies were handed out as a party favor with a cute tag that said “You are Somebunny Special.”

somebunny9

They looked so cute displayed on my vintage stool I found at a local flea market.

For the sweets and treats, I kept it simple with store bought cupcakes that I embellished with beautiful sprinkles and cupcake holders from Bakers Party Shop and a cute cupcake topper.

I also put out powdered donut holes – aka bunny tails with some peeps on sticks. Simple and fun!

I made this peep bouquet by putting peeps on sticks and placing in a ball jar filled with marshmallows. I love how cute this came together.

Meghan also made these cute Easter Egg hunt signs. I printed and cut them out and displayed on this board to direct the kids to the egg hunt.

I love using my aqua Ikea Raskog cart to style parties. It adds a modern touch and is so versatile! I have decorated this cart for many different parties and holidays.

How cute are they bunny balloons from Oriental Trading?! They made the perfect decor for each side of the dessert area.

This is adorable “Hoppy Easter” banner is from Two Chihuahuas. I love the color of this banner-so perfect for Easter! The DIY egg and bunny banner I created simply by attaching cardstock eggs and bunnies I found in the Target dollarspot to bakers twine with mini clothespins. I also added these mini honeycomb balls to each egg from Bakers Party Shop. I think they look like little bunny tails. So cute!

Hello Friends! Welcome to the Spring Party Hop! So happy you are swinging by my porch today! If you are joining me from Craft my Occasion’s A Baby Girl is Blooming baby shower, welcome! Isn’t her shower so beautiful? I just love the gorgeous backdrop Lynette created for the party! So many lovely details! I am so excited to team up these amazing bloggers for a fun Spring Party Hop!

Spring Party Hop 1

Today, I am sharing a “Hoppy Easter” kids Easter party. I set up a kid friendly easter table setting for my boys and couple of their close friends for a fun and sweet get together. Celebrating holidays with my boys brings me so much joy! And Easter is so fun because it means spring is just around the corner and with that comes all things spring; being outdoors in the fresh air, seeing everything start to bloom, hearing the birdies chirp, and bunnies everywhere! Here in the midwest where the winters are so long, we can’t wait for Spring!! For this party, the decor centered around lots of cute bunnies and carrots. My inspiration came from all of the bunnies we have hopping around in our backyard this time of year. My boys love seeing them and get so excited when one hops up on our deck. Now let’s hop to the details of the party!

I used some fencing I found at a local vintage market and a old cupboard I painted with aqua chalk paint as the backdrop and attached the gorgeous “Hoppy Easter” banner from Two Chihuahuas. I just love this banner! The colors were perfect and served as the focal point of the backdrop. The kids loved that it said “Hoppy Easter” too! Be sure to check out Christine’s etsy shop for custom banner, cake toppers, and more beautiful party decor! Above the Hoppy Easter banner I hung another gorgeous banner – a pink, mint, and white tassel banner from Glam Fete! I am slightly obsessed with tassel banners, how about you?

kidstable

On each side of the backdrop, I put up these adorable wooden bunnies I found at Target. They came unfinished so I used my adorable wrapping paper from Gift Wrap My Face and traced the bunnies on the paper. Gift Wrap My Face makes the cutest custom wrapping paper with faces on them! What a genius idea, am I right?!  I ordered this Easter themed wrapping paper with my two boys’ faces-it is just so cute! When my boys saw their little faces on the paper, there were lots of giggles! So fun! I mod podged the paper on to each bunny and tied a cute bow around each one. I love how they turned out!! Be sure to check out Gift Wrap My Face and create your own custom paper!! It is so much fun! Stay tuned later in this post for how I used the paper in another unique and fun way!

HoppyEasterBanner

At each place setting, there was a beautiful striped lavender plate and aqua striped cup from Pink Poppy Party Shoppe! So pretty! I added a gold foil bunny sticker and a cute bunny straw to each cup. If you are looking for unique and beautiful party decor, make sure to check out Bethany’s shop! Lots of eye candy!! Bunny napkin rings and a bunny tail sticker made for the cutest bunny diy napkins! Each child received an egg shaped rice krispy treat in a felt carrot holder. Lynette from Craft My Occasion made these delicious treats and provided the idea to use edible markers to decorate the eggs. Such a fun and creative idea! Not only is Lynette a talented party stylist, she makes the most amazing treats for parties! Click here to contact Lynette for your custom party edibles! See later in the post for all the decorating fun!

Each child also received one of these adorable party favor kits from FestiveFetti! “Wishing you a very Hoppy Easter!” When I saw these kits on FestiveFetti’s instagram feed, I just had to have them for this party! They went perfectly with the theme! I added a chocolate Lindt bunny and a little carrot clothespin to each favor. Brenda makes the most amazing custom confetti! More details of the party table. This bunny centerpiece was created simply by adding these cute fabric carrots I found in the Target dollarspot to this ceramic bunny. I tied an aqua ribbon around the carrots and placed the bunny on a little cakestand. I also found the Easter sign at Target too! Simple and pretty!

I needed something for the front of the table so I quickly made this bunny banner using pre-cut bow-tie bunnies I found in the Target dollarspot-I love the little bow-ties on them! I hot glued some white poms I had on hand for the tails. I attached each bunny with mini carrot and orange clothespins. I love simple and quick DIYs.

Mini cupcakes with diy cupcake toppers were served on this beautiful cakestand made by the talented Lori from Giggle Living! I placed Lori’s cakestand on top of a smaller cakestand for height and added some Easter colored m&m’s. I love how it all came together. Lori makes the cutest cakestands, magnet boards, fabric banners and lots more unique and beautiful party and home decor.  Be sure to hop on over to her website and see all the amazing inspiration.

After the kids enjoyed their yummy easter treats, it was time for some rice krispy treat easter egg decorating! I set up a little decorating station and used the Gift Wrap My Face wrapping paper as the backdrop! So fun!

At the decorating station was a basket of the rice krispy eggs, a bunny dish filled with edible markers, a plate to place the treat on, and a egg placecard. The fabulous Gift Wrap My Face backdrop served as the focal point for the decorating station.

Today I am sharing my “Lucky Me, I have You” St. Patrick’s day party I created to show my boys and hubby how much I love them. I love celebrating all holidays with my family and St. Patrick’s Day is no exception!

fulltable

I went with a green, gold and white color scheme with a pop of “rainbow!” I kept the dessert table simple with homemade cupcakes, mini pots of “gold,”lucky me leprechaun juice (green soda), and “you are the pot of gold at the end of my rainbow treat bags (skittles and rolos candy). I always try and use what I have on hand for party decor and then add in some DIYs, yummy desserts and a few added new elements to create my dessert tables.

table3

I framed this gorgeous “Lucky” printable from Paper Crush. Click here to download yours!

For the pots of gold at the end of the rainbow treat bags, I found these adorable printable treat bag toppers from Tickled Peach Studio. So cute and colorful!

rainbowfavors

I made this quick and easy DIY banner using pre-cut pennants from Michaels and gold stick-on letters. I added a glitter shamrock to each end and strung everything together using bakers twine. I added some green and gold ribbon on each side for extra flair. I love how it turned out!

luckybanner

To make my cupcakes extra special, I made DIY cupcake toppers by using my circle punch on gold and white cardstock and adding a shamrock sticker! So easy! I love a quick and fun DIY.

To add height to the cupcakes, I placed the cakeplate on a white photo box that I embellished with gold washi tape and a green glitter shamrock.

Little gold treat boxes filled with rolos!

For my “pop of rainbow,”I found this cute mini rainbow pinata at Target! I added some marshmellows to create “clouds.” Perfect little pop of color for the dessert table!

I filled glass milk bottle jars with green soda for the “lucky me leprechaun juice” and embellished with gold washi tape and green and gold shamrock stickers.  And what’s a dessert table without cute paper straws! 🙂

drinks

I found these mini pots at Party City and filled them with more “gold” and tied a little green ribbon around each one-so cute! My boys loved them!

pots of gold

For the backdrop, I used some fabric I had on hand and then added three different garlands. The pom pom and shamrock banners I found at Target and the gold doily banner I made myself by folding gold doilies in half and adding gold and white card stock to every other doily. I love how all the different textures created a pretty backdrop!

garlands

I made these fun shamrock bouquets by using shamrocks from the Target dollarspot and adhering them to paper straws.  And how cute are these shamrock jars?! Can you guess where I found them? Target but of course! Oh how I love that place! 🙂 I added gold washi tape around each jar to add a little sparkle!

table4

I loved putting together this fun little party for my family. My boys loved it and had so much fun! They are my reason I do what I do! Lucky me, I have them! 🙂 I hope you were inspired to put together a little celebration for those that you are “lucky” to have in your life. Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

I think in today’s busy world it’s so important to take time for those special friends; aka gal pals in our lives.  We often get caught up in the “I’m too busy” mentality that we forget to take time for what’s important. As women, we need to gift of friendship in our lives. We need it for our soul and overall happiness. To celebrate those special girlfriends in my life, I hosted a “Follow Your Heart Galentine’s Day” party. The overall feel I wanted for this party was pink, pretty and girly! My color scheme was pink, gold and pops of aqua. Sweet treats and pink champagne were a must! We also made our very own 2017 vision boards to go with the Follow Your heart theme!

partytable

I found the perfect banner at Hobby Lobby that said “Go Your Own Way.” I just loved the saying and it went so well with Follow Your Heart . Always be yourself, do what you love, go your own way even if other people don’t understand. They don’t need to, this is your journey, no one else’s.

table5

table3

For the cake, I decided to make my own, well semi-homemade (my favorite kind!) and made a pink champagne cake. So yummy! The recipe called for a boxed white cake mix with a few added ingredients and I made my own buttercream frosting. Click here for the cake recipe. My homemade buttercream frosting recipe came from my mom and I have been using it for years! Everyone always asks for my frosting recipe… today, I am sharing it with you!

Homemade buttercream frosting recipe:

16 ounces of Powdered Sugar

1/2 cup of softened butter

1 tsp of vanilla

A couple of tablespoons of milk

Directions:

  1. In a medium bowl, beat butter and vanilla on medium speed with an electric mixer until smooth
  2. Add in powdered sugar and continue to mix
  3. Add in a tablespoon of milk at a time; you may need to add more milk to get to your desired consistency
  4. Frost cake and serve!

The cake was simple and pretty and so delicious! I added this beautiful “Follow Your Heart” custom cake topper from Christine at Two Chiuahuas. If you are looking for the perfect cake topper or other fun party decor, please check out Two Chihuahuas.

I also had the privilege of working with Lynette from Craft my Occasion. Lynette made these adorable cookies! They went perfectly with my theme! I mean, those ball jar cookies?! I just love how they turned out! I even used a couple of the hearts to decorate my cake! Lynette was so wonderful to work with; she is so kind and supportive; not to mention super talented!

I love adding custom printables to my parties. Meghan from Elva M Design designed the beautiful sign, cupcake toppers and party favor tags.  She made my vision come to life! Here are the cupcake toppers.

I framed the 8×10 sign in a thrift store frame that I painted and distressed, it looked so pretty on the party table.

No party is complete without a cute party favor in my opinion. My parties always include some sort of favor and this party I especially wanted to show the love and give my girlfriends a sweet little gift. I found these adorable pink and gold canvas tote bags at Hobby Lobby and filled them with a wall calendar, a pen, sticky notes, and of course, chocolate, pink Hershey’s kisses to be exact that I found at the Dollar Tree! The perfect touch was Elva M Design’s heart favor tag. It said “Always follow your Heart, Love your gal pal, Nicole.”

When I saw these Follow Your Heart plates and napkins at Target, I knew I had to have these at my party! How cute are these?! Target has the best holiday decor, wouldn’t you agree? These plates and napkins were the perfect addition to the rest of the decor. I also found the paper straws and heart stir sticks in the dollar spot!

plates

For more prettiness, I added some light pink roses to the dessert table. When in doubt, add flowers! They always make a big impact and are so pretty! I displayed them in my beautiful vintage aqua ball jars. I just love my ball jars. I have a whole collection always try to use them whenever possible! Always look and see what you have available to decorate your party in your home; you will be surprised at what you find!

It was such a beautiful evening with my gal pals! My friends loved all the special details and making our own vision boards was so inspiring! We were encouraged by each other’s goals and creativity. I am thankful for my loving and supportive gal pals! And the amazing creative women I collaborated with on this party.

I highly recommend throwing your own Galentine’s Day party! They are so much fun and such a lovely way to celebrate true friendship! And even more fun when you create your own vision boards! This was my first time making a vision board-I have always wanted to do it! Have you ever made one? It was so inspiring to create my board with my girlfriends. We talked about our goals and what they meant to us and encouraged each other with positivity. I provided the following supplies:

  • Foam boards (purchased at Michaels -they were buy one get one half off!)
  • Scrapbook paper
  • Washi tape
  • Glue
  • Inspirational quotes
  • Stickers
  • Markers/Pens
  • Each guest brought a pair of scissors and anything special she wanted to put on her board.
